When was the last time you cleaned your tank?
It goes without saying that water tank cleaning is what we do. If you live in rural NSW, it is likely you have a water tank to supply your own fresh water. Increasingly residential properties are installing rain water tanks too. These tanks may be connected to a roof or filled from a bore, well, spring or stream.
Unlike mains pressure water, the quality of your tank water is up to you. However many do not give a second thought to water tank cleaning until problems arise. Understandably people think because fresh rain water goes in, it will be fresh water coming out.
The Department of Health recommends the most effective way to achieve a healthy tank is to inspect and remove any sludge every two to three years.
Whether only used as a secondary water source or as the only source of water in the home, regular maintenance is important. Tank water should remain clean and contaminant free. Even with a diverter and filter attached, contaminants can still make their way into a tank. Proper tank cleaning and maintenance also helps to extend the life of pumps, filters and appliances plumbed to the tank.
If there are only a low degree of contaminants, the frequency of your maintenance is at your personal discretion. We can inspect your tank and advise on the suitable cleaning schedule – we won’t sell you a service that is not required.
